Adam Nevill to join Xcite

Hazel Cushion, MD of Accent Press, announces the appointment of Adam Nevill as Erotica Editor to manage and commission the growing Xcite Books erotica range. Until June 2009 Nevill was editor of the market-leading Black Lace and Nexus imprints, published by Virgin Books. Xcite Books was launched in 2007 and has since rapidly gained market share. “Bringing this level of expertise into the list is an exciting move for us and will help position us to lead the mainstream erotica market,” said Hazel. Adam commented “It’s great to be involved with such an entrepreneurial publisher with a growing list, whose innovations and energy are infectious. The commitment of the Accent team to erotica and our exciting plans for the list will pave the way for more growth and great books.” Adam will start with the company on October 4th 2009.

I would like to congratulate Adam on his new post and Miranda on her new role. As usual when a imprint has a change of editor there has been some anxiety from established xcite authors (see Yahoo) as to whether Adam will place the same emphasis and importance as Miranda. Miranda has stated that the xcite ethos will not change. Still, a new editor often means a change of approach or, at least, style. Do not fear, fellow authors.

I for one am particularly indebted to Adam. I sent him my first work of any kind. Yes, he (quite rightly!) rejected my submission, but he took time to write with helpful criticism and encouragement to continue my endeavours. I have collected other rejection slips since then, but Adam's remains my favourite. Thank you Adam and I look forward to the challenge of having you accept one of my submissions!
