This May sees the launch of Hove Festival of Literature, in association with City Books and City Reads, featuring some of the best writing talent in the UK. Forming part of Fletch @ St Andrew’s, which is bringing Brighton Festival to Hove for the first time, it offers a new space for authors to profile their work. Come along with a 3 minute short story extract or poem, and get the audience you deserve.
6pm, 12th May - Laughter and Literature, St Andrew’s Church, £10/£8
Mil Millington (Instructions for Living Someone Else’s Life) and Robert Rankin (The Brightonomicon) discuss comedy writing in a panel discussion led by Michael ‘Atters’ Attree (Chair of the Moustache Club of Great Britain).
6pm, 19th May, Ultimate Escapism, St Andrew’s Church, £10/£8
Leading fiction writers, Katie Fforde (Wedding Season) and Jo Rees (Platinum) will be joined by burlesque star, Immodesty Blaize, whose debut novel Tease is out this Summer, to explore the escapism inherent in romance novels.

Poet and comedian Ross Sutherland (one of The Times Top Ten Literary Stars of 2008) attempts to escape from a series of identical small blue mazes. Surreal fun.
