Looking across the pond it seems like erotic ebook market has really taken off. It makes sense in some ways - ebooks are offer a discreet, easy opportunity for accessing erotica. Have to confess to being a bit of a luddite with regard to e-books - I still like the feel of a book in my hand and can't imagine snuggling up with my laptop for a raunchy read! As readers and writers what do you feel about them? What experience have you got with other publishers? Certainly we have seen a dramatic increase in our ebook sales and it does seem a good way to broaden our list. Audio books have also started to do well - hands-free listening offers all sorts of fun possibilities (just don't listen while you're driving!)
I prefer hard copy to e-books. I use the computer to read out of print books - There are lots of Greek, Hindu, etc, classics online for free including lots of classic erotica such as the Kama Sutra - I'm in a few online writing groups, so I see lots of authors send work in progress round for feedback online, as I do with some myself. Another path to consider is self-publishing. Lulu Books offer a fine print on demand service. I have a few book out there, which sell modestly. It's also handy for me to get copies of my work as presents for friends at Xmas and for birthdays, etc Generally though, I favour mainstream book and mafazine publication. Arthur Chappell.
